Study

The SC Department of Agriculture had conducted two studies at 10 stables across South Carolina, using pleasure horses, racehorses, draft horses, and Quarter horse and hunter show barns. Compared to shavings, sawdust, pellets and straw, Coco Bedding showed nearly a 50% reduction in stall waste and reduced time spent mucking stalls. All the barns reported little to no ammonia odor.

Recap of benefits

  •  Flies: We don’t know about other insects, but flies hate this stuff! No more flies in your stall.
  •  Dust: No dust flying around the stall. Great for horses with respiratory problems.
  • Hoof health: One barn owner reported that a chronic case of thrush was much improved after a month on Coco Bedding. The foot was drier and healthier.
  • Fewer manure stains:  Due to the tiny amount of coconut oil in the bedding, grey horses, paints and horses with white legs had less staining from manure.
  • Better hair coat: The hair seemed silkier after a few weeks on Coco Bedding.
  • Don’t forget:  NO ODOR!!
